Method

  1. Saute the sliced onion in a little oil until softened.
  2. Stir in the drained sauerkraut, diced apple and caraway seeds.
  3. Pour in the broth and bring to a gentle simmer.
  4. Cover and simmer the sauerkraut mixture for about 20 minutes until the apple is soft and the flavors meld.
  5. Meanwhile, grill or pan-fry the bratwurst until browned and cooked through.
  6. Nestle the bratwurst into the sauerkraut to warm through, then serve.
