Don't lose your dinners

Mealime is closing on 21 October 2026. Its own notice says the app will be discontinued and all personal data will be deleted. The recipes themselves move to Meals Hub, inside Albertsons' grocery apps. What doesn't move is yours: your saved recipes, your plans and your settings, and there is no export button.

You do not need to lose the twenty dinners you actually rotate through. Here is how to get them out, and it takes about five minutes.

Bring your recipes over

1. Open Mealime and go to your saved recipes or past meal plans.
2. Tap Share on a recipe and copy the link. It looks like r.mealime.com/… or mealime.com/recipes/… — both work.
3. Paste them below. All at once is fine — one per line, or just dumped in a block. We will sort them out.

What Hearth does with them

Each link is read the same way a search engine reads it — the ingredients, the steps, the cook time and the servings — and lands in your account as a real recipe, not a bookmark.

From there it is one system rather than a pile of features:

1. Keep the ones you actually cook. Favourite them, and the rest stay out of your way.
2. Plan a week from what you have favourited.
3. The list merges what repeats. If four recipes need onions, that is one line with one quantity, not four.
4. Then it subtracts your kitchen. What is already in your pantry, fridge and freezer comes off the list, so you stop buying the third jar of cumin.
5. And it is priced. Per-serving cost from Canadian grocery prices, with this week's flyer sales in Canadian cities factored in. Hearth is built in Canada, and prices are in Canadian dollars.
6. Cooking closes the loop. Make the recipe and the ingredients come off your shelves, so next week's list already knows.

That last part is why the cost figure means anything: the app knows what you already own.

Common questions

Is Mealime really shutting down? Yes — 21 October 2026, announced on mealime.com/closing. Albertsons, which bought Mealime in 2021, is moving its recipes into Meals Hub. Pro features are free for everyone until then and Pro subscriptions will not renew.

Can you just grab all my recipes automatically? No, and no one else can either. Your saved list lives inside your Mealime account, so the only person who can enumerate it is you — that is why step one is copying links. We also do not copy Mealime's recipe library wholesale: we only ever fetch a page you have specifically handed us.

What if I have fifty of them? Paste as many as you like, up to sixty at a time. If you have more than that, do it in two goes.

Do I have to pay to get my recipes in? No. The trial is thirty days and does not ask for a card. If you decide Hearth is not for you, you have still got your recipes out of Mealime before the lights went off, which is the part with a deadline on it.
